Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets are made up of CELLS!! ( and they can contain TEXT, NUMBERS OR FORMULAE)

A number of cells vertically (up and down) is called a COLUMN

A number of cells horizontally (left to right) is called a ROW


We use Spreadsheets for calculations using formula and can make charts

Dynamic V Static

Data Linkage!

Dynamic Data Linkage -
When you create an original document (spreadsheet) and copy the spreadsheet to another document. If you make changes to the original the dynamic link will mean that the copy is changed as well. It changes to the same as the original

Static Data Linkage -
There is no link and when the original is changed, nothing happens to the copy!

Data Protection Act
Data Subjects - are the people that information is held on and we HAVE RIGHTS!!!!
+ to change wrong information
+ compensation if the act is broken
+ allowed to see the information held on you (for a fee!) but not always ...
- not if its a matter of national security
- if its to prevent or detect crime

Data Controller - person who is responsible for looking after the information
their responsibilites are ...
+ keep it up to data and accurate
+ not keep it for longer than necessary
+ take security measures to prevent it being deleted or altered
+ only show it to the data subject
+ not transfer to companies outside the EU

inkjets are higher quality prints but slower PPM
laser are faster at printing but are lower quality
costs - inkjet more expensive long term because of ink!

Spell Checker!

Spell Checker has a built in dictionary
Puts a red line under misspelled words
It checks if each word is in the dictionary and if not puts a red line

1. you can ignore the spelling
2. add it to the dictionary
3. can choose from the words the dictionary has

are they always correct???

NO!!!! they are not great with names! surnames! Sheikh, Giblin, Farquharson ...
